Well Gary this website was sent to me by a mutual friend , Robert Shober, who i met and became fast friends with when we were walking the battlefields of our fathers in Italy in 2008, you see i am the son of Joe Dauphinais 1-2 , one of the four men who laid the ropes on Difensa for the rest of the boys to climb with that night in Decemer of 43, i am also an associate member of the FSSF ,first because of my Dad, and second because i was a member of the Canadian Airborne Regiment, Special Service Force which was the direct decendant of the FSSF here in Canada , much as the Special Forces of the Army in your country are the decendants of the American side of the Force. My interest would be in anything you would think i was suitable for , seeing as how i live in Canada i would not be able to attend a lot of your functions , but i am definately interested in helping out in keeping the Force alive and well , I am still an active parachutist and have logged many skydives as well as jumping my T-10 to commemorate all the boys who did not come back from their jumps , both in WW 2 and right up to now , I ws priveledged enough to be granted the honour of Scattering some of Dads ashes over Fort Wlliam Henry Harrison in Montana back in 2002 to bring Dad home to where it all started .... we did this while under canopy over the drop zone Dad did his traing jumps on during the war . if you need any more information just ask waiting for your reply , yours truly ........Kit Dauphinais
------------------- My interest is that my mother’s 1st cousin Sgt. Emmett Guerin of Peterborough Ontario served in this unit. My mother and all her family were very, very close. I am also in constant contact with Emmett’s niece Fran O’toole whose mother was Emmett’s sister. I’ll forward his rifle badge which Fran received just two years ago. Fran has given us pictures of Emmett’s grave and many great photos of him in uniform. I’ll forward them to you. Emmett and his cousin, Cecil Guerin member of the Black Watch, age 23 died in the Phlille Gap in France in the same summer, another of my mother’s 1st cousin’s. We are well versed in the sacrifice our family made along with so many others.
Hope this along with the information I’ll forward tells you why we have a keen interest in The devil’s brigade, the black devils or the FSSF
Jim Hawley BA M.Ed. ------------------------ My name is John G. Clarke, I am a retired Weapons Technician from the Canadian Forces and I am a blood relative of an original Forceman. My Uncle, Joseph T. Jamieson was an original member of the FSSF and just so happens he was with the 6-3. I am a full member of the FSSF Association and have been for a few years now and am looking forward to the 65th Reunion here in Edmonton this August. Attached is a photo of myself and the FSSF Tribute Harley that I built this past winter.
As for the re-enactment group, I think it is a fantastic idea, I'd love to get all the kit together so I could wear the battle dress at the Remembrance Day Ceremonies that I lay a wreath for the Force every year.
If my request is not accepted I'll understand as I am not interested in becoming a re-enactor myself but I fully support you folks. | |
