Secret First Special Service Force APO 4994, N.Y. , N.Y. 27 November 1943 Annex No 1 To Administrative Order No 2 1. The following individual clothing and equipment will be carried to the front by personnel of combat echelon, and applies to both officers and enlisted men. a. To be worn. Band, helmet, camouflage Belt, cartridge, cal. .30, or pistol - as prescribed by T/E Boots, parachute Box, match, waterproof Cap, wool knit Spoon, M1926 Drawers, wool Canteen, w/cup, cover and grate Gloves, wool o.d., leather palm Helmet, complete Handkerchiefs Insignia, shoulder sleeve, FSSF Insignia NCO or Techn. Knife, mountain Pockets, magazine, pistol - for personnel armed with pistol Pockets, magazine, carbine - 3 per officer Combat Echelon, 2 per Officer base Echelon Package, first aid, w/first aid packet and sulfadiazine Shirt, wool o.d. Socks, wool, heavy Sweater, wool, high neck Tags, identification, w/tape or necklace Suspenders, belt, M1936 Trousers, mountain, w/suspenders Undershirt, wool b. To be carried in a Blanker roll over the shoulder. 1 Shelter Half, w/poles, pins and rope Bag, sleeping, mountain c. To be carried in the field Bag. Rations - 1 C 1 D 1 K Toilet Articles Poncho Extra socks 2. Rucksacks will be packed with a change of underwear and socks, remaining mess gear, remaining toilet articles and left stacked together at the unit storage point in the Base camp available to the Supply Officer for delivery to advanced units in case the opportunity arises. 3. a. All troops will carry to the Assembly Area on their persons the items enumerated above in Paragraphs 1. In addition to their normal weapons and ammunition load. b. The First and Third Regiments will retain the blanket roll with them until otherwise ordered. c. The Second Regiment will retain the blanket roll with them until the afternoon of D-1, at which time they will be stacked and turned over to carrying parties to be withdrawn by the carrying parties to the vicinity of the dump area where they will be kept in bulk, awaiting future use by the regiment. In preparing the rolls for withdrawal to the dump area, companies and detachments will make certain to keep their rolls together and carrying parties will make every effort to keep their rolls separated by organization. d. At any time that blanket rolls are ordered withdrawn to the supply area, regimental commanders will have them placed near the road or trails, sorted or stacked by company, where they may be kept segregated while being handled by supply personnel.
